Haven’t blogged in a while so I hope this appears where it should!  I am still buzzing with excitement after children from years 3 and 4 sang so well at the competition today, they  were awarded 2nd place and received the “adjudicators choice” trophy! Out of the 7 schools that took part, we were praised for having the best overall blended tone and a purity of sound.  I would like to say how proud I am of all the children in the choir who gave up their lunchtimes to practice the songs…..but what a wonderful outcome!. You are  a credit to BCJS and I hope we can build on this achievement in the future.  WELL DONE!!! You have made me very happy….

What a wonderful day we had with Jim (and his djembe) from the World Music Workshop. All the children experienced sounds and rhythms from around the world and were enthralled by the different textures and timbres created by the many drums and percussion instruments that were being played.  Year 6 showed knowledge and skill when it came to their performances and had clearly learnt a lot from their recent class music lessons on Africa. It was a really special day and I hope it will remind the children of the fun to be experienced from playing music with others as well as developing a love for music in whatever form it is heard. Go to the BCJS Youtube Channel to see the Year 6 video performances but………turn the volume down!
